The Starting Point

I am thrilled to introduce our new strategic plan: Accelerate, which spans between 2024-2029. Accelerate will propel our work forward and further drive student success. By amplifying what’s effective, refining strategies, and swiftly addressing areas that require improvement, we will advance our work and increase student achievement for all Aldine ISD students.

When I joined Aldine as Superintendent in 2018, I spent time looking, listening, and learning. It was my way of understanding the district’s culture and connecting with staff, students, parents, and community leaders. I found pockets of excellence, areas of strength, points of pride, and opportunities for improvement. Those findings led to the development of our last strategic plan, A New Way Forward. The bold plan was our framework to ensure that each of our students had access to high-quality schools and learning experiences that would prepare them for their future.

This next strategic plan marks a continuation of our current journey and builds on the strong foundations we shared in 2019.

Accelerate
Through a community-driven process, the strategic plan was developed to ensure we were reflective, honest, and transparent. Through robust dialogue, comprehensive diagnostics, and stakeholder engagement, our strategic priorities emerged:

  • Students First: We prioritize creating safe, supportive environments where high expectations flourish, fostering a sense of belonging and joy among students.
  • Instructional Excellence: We ensure all teachers and leaders provide rigorous, responsive instruction daily for equitable access to quality education.
  • Thriving Teams: We foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and high performance among our staff.
  • Aligned Systems: We develop and monitor central office structures to support instructional excellence and foster a safe learning environment.

These priorities are a reflection of the Portrait of a Graduate, which we believe is at the heart of our plan. This guiding model sets forth the qualities that every Aldine ISD student should embody before they walk across the stage.

Monitoring progress and measuring impact will be key as we implement this strategic plan. Using a guided and deliberate project plan that aligns with the Board of Trustees’ goals, we will track and share our mission measures to ensure we are on course.

Accelerate is more than just a strategic plan. It is a true living document that includes feedback from more than 500 stakeholders. Accelerate is a shared commitment to our student’s future success. While we have a new set of priorities to guide our work, we will never lose sight of what we’ve promised in our mission: Aldine ISD will provide a rigorous and enriching educational experience that prepares every student for success in college, career, and life.

Together, we will accelerate toward an empowered tomorrow for every Aldine ISD student.
